A refinement of the Shimano Pedaling Dynamics system, SPD-SL® was designed specifically for the needs of world-class road racers. Cleat design brings the foot closer to the spindle for increased stability. Larger cleat provides for a wider contact point with the pedal for improved foot-pedal stability. Low-profile cleat and binding mechanism creates a stable interface between the shoe and pedal in a lightweight design for efficient power transfer. Nearly vertical pedal position angle for entry has been maximized for a faster and effortless clip-in. Wide bearing placement enhances load distribution across the pedal.
