RACE FACE X-TYPE DEUS CRANKSET '07

X-Type. It's a whole new crank and bottom bracket design from Race Face. By moving the bearings outside of the bottom bracket shell, some of the problems of traditional bottom brackets can be addressed, like stiffness, durability of the crank/BB junction, and bearing quality. The X-Type system puts the bearings into sealed cartridge units placed outboard of the bottom bracket. The spindle (part of the left crankarm) is then passed through the shell and secured with a bolt behind the right side crank.

What are the benefits of the X-Type system to you, the rider?

• Superb stiffness and durability that you don't get with square taper cranks or competing spline designs.
• Adjustable chainline - 3mm of left/right adjustment helps you fine-tune your chainline for perfect shifting.
• New 10-spline interface eliminates creaking and cranks the come loose. Since the system does not depend on a press fit, you can remove your cranks for service any time you like, without worry that the interface will "stretch".
• More and larger bearings can be used. That means more contact surface so no more premature wear.
• No special tools are needed for installation or removal of the cranks.
• No left side crank bolt (plus other enhancements) yields a crank/BB combo that is lighter than before.

Deus is the lightest aluminum crank ever made by Race Face. They're "near net" forged and fully machined with an aggressive I-Beam profile for improved stiffness and strength. It's X-Type spindle is a superlight, butted, heat-treated NiCrMo design.

Please note: this crankset is only compatible with X-Type bottom bracket cups from Race Face.  Installation wrench sold separately
